In my continued quest to know exactly what’s in our food I set out to make homemade coffee creamer.
I haven’t used any flavored creamer in a really long time. The last time I checked the ingredient list I was shocked to see it didn’t even contain any milk!
This is the ingredient list for a popular vanilla creamer…not even any cream listed!
INGREDIENTS: WATER, SUGAR, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN AND/OR COTTONSEED OIL, AND LESS THAN 2% OF SODIUM CASEINATE (A MILK DERIVATIVE)**, DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, DISODIUM PHOSPHATE, MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, CELLULOSE GEL, CELLULOSE GUM, COLOR ADDED, CARRAGEENAN.
With the weather starting to turn cooler, I look forward to a nice cup of coffee after supper, out on the porch, enjoying watching the seasons change.
This was quick and easy and so good I just had to share it with everyone.
- 2 cups half & half
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- Stir together half & half and honey in a medium saucepan over medium heat. When the mixture begins to steam, remove from the heat. Stir in vanilla. Pour into a glass bottle and store in the refrigerator.
