It’s that time of the year where I need to dig out some of my favorite cool weather recipes.  This old fashion hot cocoa recipe is one of my family’s favorites.

Old Fashion Hot Cocoa Recipe

Prepackaged hot cocoa can’t even compare to the homey sweet taste of homemade hot chocolate. It’s simple and easy and doesn’t take much effort to make it.  The ingredients are readily available in any well-stocked pantry.  Sugar, water, powdered cocoa and real milk is all it takes to provide this tasty treat to your little ones.

Here is the simple Old Fashion Hot Cocoa recipe:

  • 2 teaspoons cocoa
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk

In a saucepan whisk the water and cocoa together and heat until it starts to thicken. Add the sugar and stir until it is dissolved and add milk and simmer for one minute.

Pair it with your favorite homemade cookie or try my famous Rainy Day Ginger Snaps!

Amish Puzzle
For me I am waiting for the perfect cool evening to start this new Amish fall puzzle I just bought while enjoying a nice steaming mug of my favorite homemade hot chocolate.
