Message Board with Chalkboard Paint

I just love that my hubby is handy! He spent less than one hour building me a message board I painted with chalkboard paint to cover the hot water tank door in my hallway. Normally my fridge is a mess with the various notes and pictures that I like to keep handy under an array of magnets, but now I can move all of that to this message board.

chalkboard paintThe access to our hot water tank is in our utility hallway behind a panel….just a few feet from the refrigerator.  As I walked by one day I thought that would be a perfect spot to move the clutter from the doors of my fridge to an organized spot.

After a quick chat with my hubby we determined the best thing to do was to buy a piece of 28 gauge steel and paint it with chalkboard paint.  I wanted to be able to let the kids draw on it with chalk and still being able to use my collection of magnets for special notes and pictures.

It ended up being one of the easiest projects we have ever done. A quick cut with a pair of tin snips to make it fit, a few screws to attach it to the panel and a couple coats of chalkboard paint and it was done.
